1. Check your tires before a winter road trip. It’s critical that tires are at the right inflation pressure and structurally intact. Do not ignore alerts from your vehicle’s tire pressure monitoring system. If you’ve been putting off a new set of tires, now is the time.
2. Have your trusted shop look over your vehicle. You should always check the following items before a trip:
- Battery
- Antifreeze/Coolant
- Wipers
- Lights
- Heater
- Brakes
- Defroster
- Oil Level
3. Make sure you have winter tools in your car. Pack your ice scraper, booster cables, road flares and a pair of gloves.
4. Pack a survival kit. This should include first aid basics, water and food, a warm blanket and a charger for your phone.
Preparation is the key for safety, especially when driving in winter! Have a safe trip!
