You might remember “The Quarter Heist” in which some local creeps stole our jug of quarters that was the basis of a contest and was planned to go to charity. The quarters were gone, but we decided to give the money to charity anyway. The local news carried the story of the theft and the story apparently went nationwide, because our accountants in Baltimore saw the story on their local news. They called to tell us about it and sent a donation that more than matched the original $250 lost in the heist. Soon after, our business coaches who are also in Baltimore sent a similar donation! In addition, a number of our customers, on seeing the news piece, came in and made cash donations to help out.
We tossed around a lot of organizations as possible recipients, but a good friend of ours, Max King, told us about the good works being done by Toby’s Dream, a local foundation similar to Make a Wish. Thanks to many folks’ kindness and generosity we were able to give Toby’s Dream a check for $760! Here’s Carole presenting the check to Joan Steele, Executive Director of Toby’s Dream.
If you would like to support a good, locally run cause, you can contact Joan Steele at joan@tobysdream.org. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Paar, Melis and ATI and all who gave and turned a bad experience into a great one.
